What is 2s in train?
In 2021, the Indian railway released the list of 200 non-AC trains. Booking for these trains was started from 21 May 2020. IRCTC has allowed passengers to reserve seats according to their choices. Now let’s talk about what is 2s in train.
2s is a second seating lowest class where seats are like benches. Benches can be with a cushion or without a cushion. This type of coaches doesn’t have sleeping facilities and births.
2s are made for short journeys like 4 to 5 hours but some people also use it for the overnight journeys because buses don’t provide ac facility and seats like benches. These coaches are best suited for daytime journeys.
Are 2s and general coaches the same?
Now, if you are wondering that if the general coach and 2s coach are the same things. The answer is no, they are not the same thing. 2s class seats can be booked online through IRCTC but in general coaches, the seats are unreserved. So, 2s and general coaches both are different types of coaches.
Difference between SL and 2S
SL is a sleeper class which is the most common coach on the Indian railway. These are normal sleeping coaches without air conditioning, having three sleepers across the width and two longways. While 2S is the lowest class where seats are in the form of benches. 2s can be reserved and unreserved.
